Magpies boss happy to have defender for the rest of the season

Notts County manager Martin Allen is unsure if the club would be able to sign on-loan Bristol City defender Damion Stewart permanently. Stewart has made seven appearances for the Magpies since joining the club in January and is due to stay at Meadow Lane for the rest of the season. The 31-year-old is under contract at Bristol City until 2013, but has made just three appearances this season after failing to establish himself in Derek McInnes' plans at Ashton Gate. Allen has been pleased with the Jamaica international's contribution and is likely to have to play a waiting game regarding a more permanent deal for Stewart. "I really don't know if it would be possible," said Allen in the Nottingham Evening Post. "He seems to be quite happy here and I like him, but I don't know if it would be possible to strike a deal on that one. "All I know is we've got him until the end of the season."
