Welsh urges points return

Carlisle midfielder Andy Welsh says picking up points when the team is not playing well could decide whether they make the play-offs.

The Cumbrians came from behind to eke out a 2-1 home win over lowly Chesterfield at the weekend to go level on points in the table with sixth-placed Stevenage, who they take on next Saturday. "When you're pushing for a play-off place or promotion, getting results from games like that where you aren't at your best can often be the difference between success and failure," Welsh told the club's official website. "Hopefully we can kick on from here and get another good result in what will be a big game at Stevenage next weekend." Welsh, 28, returned to the side against Chesterfield following a four-month absence due to a calf injury. He added: "It's been a really frustrating few months for me, but it was great to get back on the pitch playing football again and even better that the team got all three points."
