Failed appeal frustrates Nixon

Carlisle managing director John Nixon has expressed his disappointment after the club's appeal against Lee Miller's red card was turned down.

Scottish striker Miller was shown a straight red card by referee Rob Madeley in Saturday's defeat at Hartlepool for his tackle on Andy Monkhouse and the Football Association's disciplinary panel have turned down the club's bid to get the dismissal overturned. Nixon told the club's official website: "Obviously we are extremely disappointed because we reviewed the evidence and felt we had a strong case. "However, having seen the referee's report of the incident on Monday morning we were aware that we faced a difficult task and that has proved to be the case." Miller, who has scored 10 goals since joining on the club a two-year deal from Middlesbrough in August, will miss league games against Chesterfield, Stevenage and Tranmere as a result of his three-match suspension.
