Boss blasts abject Chairboys

A dejected Gary Waddock has deemed Wycombe's performance against Brentford as "unacceptable" after their 5-2 derby rout on Saturday.

A Gary Alexander hat-trick and goals from Sam Saunders and Toumani Diagouraga helped the hosts to an emphatic win over the League One strugglers, with Dave Winfield and Ben Strevens replying for the visitors at Griffin Park. The Chairboys boss admitted his side "did not get near" the Bees in a one-sided first half which ended with the hosts three up. He said: "Whatever level you play at our performance was unacceptable. We set up to be solid and not concede although you'd never have known it. "We took a step forward beating Rochdale, but this was two steps back and very frustrating. We just did not compete with Brentford in the first-half and to be honest there weren't many positives to pull out of it."
