Wycombe boss Gary Waddock insists he has no hard feelings towards Marcello Trotta after the striker turned down a loan extension.
Trotta returned to parent club Fulham this week despite Cottagers boss Martin Jol saying the 19-year-old could stay with the League One side.
Trotta hopes his eight-goal haul for Wanderers will alert Championship clubs and Waddock admits he understands the decision.
"I'm disappointed we haven't got a player of his quality, but we'd like to thank him for what he's done in the eight games he played for us," Waddock told the assembled media. "Eight goals is a fantastic return and if he wants to test himself at a higher level, if that opportunity comes around for him, we wish him good luck.
"We would have loved to have kept him but I had a conversation with him and understood why he wanted to do it and his reasons behind it.
"We have to take into account that he's with a Premier League club. He did extremely well here and if there is interest from Championship clubs then we can't stand in the way of his development."
