Abbott to hold fire with deals

Carlisle boss Greg Abbott will wait until after the transfer window ends before negotiating any new deals with his current squad.

The Blues have several players coming towards the end of their contracts, with Lubo Michalik, Francois Zoko, Frank Simek and Danny Livesey among those who could leave for nothing in the summer. "I have spoken to the group and by early February time, if we can give a definite yes or no to these situations, we will," Abbott told the News & Star. "We need everybody involved here and we have to make sure we make the right decisions. The best period to start that would probably be the start of February." Abbott is also hopeful of bringing defender Chris Chantler back to the club after the 21-year-old returned to Manchester City following the end of his loan spell. "We like Chris and we would like to increase his loan if not do a permanent deal," said Abbott.
