Karleigh Osborne and Harry Forrester could be back in the Brentford squad for the Boxing Day visit of Bournemouth.
The duo stepped up their attempts to get match fit by playing for the reserves against Brighton on Tuesday afternoon.
Centre-half Osborne has been out for almost two months with a foot injury and midfielder Forrester has started just once all season due to hamstring trouble.
But both players came through the full 90 minutes as the Bees development squad were beaten 2-0 at Griffin Park.
Back-up goalkeeper Simon Moore also played after recovering from a shoulder injury and trialist Tomi Ameobi got another run-out in attack.
