Liam Chilvers has returned to League One outfit Notts County from his loan spell at Port Vale carrying an injury.
Chilvers was forced off with a groin problem early on in the final game of his three-month loan spell with the League Two club on Saturday.
The 30-year-old defender, who is keen to return to Vale Park in January, hopes to be fit again in time for the start of 2012.
"I stretched for a ball and felt a pop in my groin and I think I have pulled it slightly. But I don't think it is a bad tear so it should only take a couple of weeks to recover," Chilvers told Vale's official club website.
"As the loan has now run out and I'm not going to be featuring at County, it means I have time to rest and get back to full fitness.
"It could have been worse - if I had picked up the injury midway through my loan because I would not have been able to prove myself. So in a way it has come at a good time and I should be back fully fit in January."
