Port Vale are hoping to keep Notts County defender Liam Chilvers, who has been ever-present in the Valiants' squad since September.

The 30-year-old is set to play the final game of his three-month spell at Vale Park on Saturday. "He has been a tremendous professional while he has been at this football club," manager Micky Adams told his club's official website. "We will be talking to Liam, his agent and Notts County to see if we can progress it further in terms of trying to keep him for the second half of the season. "We will find out what Notts County's thoughts are because the parent club always hold all the cards, it depends what they want to do with him. "I think he has got better since he has been here. He looks a bit sharper. match fitter, his game is up to speed and I have been pleased with the way he has defended - which is the most important thing."
