Scunthorpe midfielder Jimmy Ryan has spoken of his relief after returning from a three-month injury lay-off on the weekend.

Ryan, 23, a summer signing from Accrington, has been sidelined with a cruciate knee ligament injury sustained against Walsall in September, but was one of the Iron's more impressive performers in a 2-1 home defeat to Carlisle. Ryan told the club's official website: "I'm made up to be honest. It's killed me being in the gym everyday with the lads going training and I can't join in. "But I'm glad to be back now and I'm just looking forward to starting to do well. "I'm fine. I just need to get my match fitness up and that will take a few weeks maybe. But I feel quite sharp." Meanwhile, teenage striker Aron Wint has joined Northern Premier League Division One (South) side Belper Town on a month's loan.
