Mancini 'knew Luca was good'

Andreas Mancini is not surprised by compatriot Luca Scapuzzi's successful start to life at League One side Oldham.

The Italian duo joined on loan from Premier League leaders Manchester City earlier this month. While Mancini - son of City boss Roberto - has been restricted to substitute appearances as he looks to build match fitness, 20-year-old forward Scapuzzi has starred during back-to-back cup wins over Crewe and Burton. "He's doing very well, but he is a good player - I knew he was a good player," said Mancini. "I knew he would do well because he has the qualities to become a really good football player. As for me, it is good for him to get first-team experience and play every game." Mancini, 19, added that it was a boost to have long-time friend Scapuzzi alongside him as he looks to acclimatise to life in league football. He added: "It is really good because Luca, I have known him since I was little. If you have some difficult moments then you have someone to look up to."
