Grof going for Saddlers spot

Walsall stopper David Grof hopes boss Dean Smith gives him an extended run after his first appearance in over a month at the weekend.

The 22-year-old Hungarian had last started a game in the home defeat to Oldham on September 13 before making a telling contribution in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Huddersfield in the absence of suspended number one Jimmy Walker, who is back in contention this week. Grof told the club's official website: "For me personally, I was happy with my overall performance. I've just got to keep working hard in training this week and see if it is enough for me to keep my place for the next game. "I'd like to think that I've put a good case forward to the gaffer to keep my place." He added: "I'd not played for over a month, so firstly it was good to get a competitive game. "It was nice to make a decent early save. It gave me confidence and I felt good throughout the game."
