Northampton midfielder Derek Niven is yet to discover the extent of his ankle injury which forced him off the pitch on Saturday.
Niven, who joined the Cobblers on loan from Chesterfield 10 days ago, may have ligament damage after a heavy tackle by a Gillingham player during the 4-3 League Two defeat at Priestfield on the weekend.
Both clubs are awaiting the results of a scan.
"We need to wait and see how it settles down but he twisted his ankle underneath himself when the bloke tackled him," said Northampton manager Gary Johnson.
"It was a bad challenge and he didn't get booked for it either."
