Jordan Rhodes' third hat-trick and 13th goal in five matches in Huddersfield's 3-1 win over Preston left manager Lee Clark very impressed.
After the win Clark declared: "A record like that is unheard of."
Scotland Under-21s striker Rhodes scored five in two matches for his country then followed up with back-to-back league hat-tricks against Exeter and Preston.
Clark said a full Scotland call-up cannot be far away and added: "If Jordan gets opportunities he will score goals. He's a natural goalscorer.
"You cannot ignore what he has been doing. Scotland don't have a large pool of strikers so you just throw him into the mix. Jordan responds to playing with better players."
Clark revealed the chairman of the Scottish FA was at the game and said: "There will be a very positive report going back.
"To score 13 goals in five matches is unheard of. I played with some of the best strikers in the world - Shearer, Phillips, Ferdinand, Saha and Cole - they were all phenomenal scorers, but I'm sure none of them have matched that."
