Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill is optimistic that defender Eddie Nolan will be fit to face MK Dons on Saturday.
The 23-year-old missed last weekend's goalless draw at Brentford after injuring his calf while walking up stairs.
And in a twist of fate, Andrew Wright deputised for the Republic of Ireland international but was dismissed at Griffin Park, leaving Knill with limited cover at left-back.
He told the club's official website: "We are very hopeful that we will have Eddie back in the reckoning.
"He has been a big player for us this season. So, as with any key player, we are bound to feel it when he is missing.
"If he isn't available then it means we have to reshuffle again. It's just one of those wait and see situations."
