Manager Gary Waddock insists Jordan Ibe deserves the accolade of becoming Wycombe's youngest-ever Football League player.

The 15-year-old came off the bench as a 90th-minute substitute during the victory at Hartlepool on Saturday. Ibe was almost a whole year younger than previous record holder Kadeem Harris.

"We wanted to give him his debut," Waddock said. "I didn't feel it was right last week. He is here on merit, he is a very talented young man and he has got his League debut and smashed Kadeem's record.

"When he came on Kadeem had a big smile on his face because he was pleased for his mate as well, and that tells you a lot about the group."

It was Ibe's fourth appearance for Wanderers this season, having previously featured in Carling Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy matches.
