Knill gives Nolan challenge

Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill has told defender Eddie Nolan to prove he is worth a new contract at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old left-back, whose loan move from Preston was turned into a permanent one in January, has been one of the leading lights of a difficult start to the Iron's season. However, despite his contract expiring in the summer, Knill is in no rush to tie Nolan down to Glanford Park. "I have to say we are only 12 games in," Knill told the club's official website. "It's about keeping him hungry. "I am sure that when the time comes he will be one of the first we sit down with. "He has to keep it going because we know that there is a really good player in there."
