Richie Barker believes his Bury side are starting to find their feet in League One following a 2-0 win against Exeter.
The Shakers have gone unbeaten in three games after losing their previous five to climb to mid-table.
Andy Bishop set them on the path to victory with a thumping header before Matt Oakley's own goal virtually killed the game off.
Barker said: "The result pleased me most, rather than the performance, as opposed to the last two weeks when it's been the performance rather than the result. We've played better and lost games.
"Some of the players were excellent but I thought we have played better and we almost gave them a leg up a couple of times. With all due respect to Exeter, if we'd been playing Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday or Charlton, we probably would have been punished.
"We were a little bit sloppy in possession in the first half, although a few of the moves were excellent. At times we were wasteful on the ball but we've got seven points from nine. We've been through some difficult times on and off the pitch but it was always going to take time."
