Sheridan glee as Spireites shine

Chesterfield boss John Sheridan praised his side for reaching the Johnstone's Paint Trophy quarter-finals after defeating Notts County 3-1.

Despite playing with 10 men for well over an hour, the Spireites dominated their East Midlands rivals before and after the 22nd-minute sending off of Lee Johnson, but had to come from behind following Karl Hawley's stunning opener in the 43rd minute. Dean Morgan matched Hawley's effort, then Mark Randall put Chesterfield in front before Jordan Bowery wrapped things up 13 minutes from the end. Sheridan said: "We got right back in the game after the sending off, and I was disappointed with their goal. "You think the worst with 10 men but we defended well until then. In the second half the work rate was quality. "Sometimes it makes it difficult for the opposition, playing against 10 men, and we kept our attacking mentality."
