League One club Bournemouth have received a boost after an x-ray revealed Shaun MacDonald does not have a broken toe.

The midfielder, who signed from Swansea in the summer, has missed the Cherries' last three outings after suffering a badly bruised toe in the 3-0 defeat to Chesterfield.

Despite the good news, MacDonald has still not set a date on his return to action.

"Obviously it's nice to find out you've not fractured or broken anything but it's still a bit sore," he told Bournemouth's official website.

"I'm working hard in the gym trying to get back as soon as possible. At the moment I don't want to push it too hard.

"The fans have been brilliant and really welcomed me and I've said that in my previous interviews. I thank them for that and hope I can get back and score some goals to repay them."
