Exeter manager Paul Tisdale admitted his side lost their way after Wes Thomas opened the scoring in the 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
The Grecians remain in the League One relegation zone with a solitary win from their opening nine games.
"We started quite well and lost a bit of confidence after their first goal, which is a consequence of a month of poor results," Tisdale said after going down to the Cherries at St James Park on Saturday.
"It was hard to break them down and that is a current problem for us. We are a bit fragile at the moment but we will overcome it eventually.
"We hit the post and the game is full of maybes and ifs, but the fact is we lost the game 2-0.
"It's important that we keep doing what we do and remember what we are and be good at it and keep doing the same things. We must believe those things will get us going again."
