Scunthorpe assistant manager Chris Brass says new signing Shane Duffy has arrived at Glanford Park with a point to prove.
Defender Duffy, 19, signed a one-month loan deal from Everton on deadline day but has yet to feature for the team due to a call-up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad.
Speaking to Scunthorpe's official website, Brass said: "He's someone we've been watching for a while now and admired.
"There are a lot of players we constantly monitor and when we knew there was an opportunity to bring him into the building, we didn't hesitate.
"I think when you have a time out as Shane has through injury, you're itching to play football again. He went to Burnley last season and played one game so he wants to prove to people what a good player he is.
"Everton trust us that we're going to be the right step for him in his career."
