Oldham defender Paul Black is set for a spell on the sidelines with a groin injury while his replacement was sent off on his debut.
Black missed the 1-1 home draw against Huddersfield on Saturday due to a slight tear in the muscle.
The left-back will have a scan in the next few days to determine the extent of the problem but early indications are that his absence could be for several weeks.
To add to Oldham's problems, Black's replacement Bradley Diallo was sent off on his full debut against Huddersfield and must serve a three-match suspension.
That could see teenager David Mellor get a run in the side at left-back.
