Carlisle's Matty Robson feels he has become a better player since converting from a winger into a defender.
The 26-year-old was installed as a makeshift left-back by Cumbrians manager Greg Abbott last season and has made the position his own following a series of impressive displays.
Robson told the club's official website: "I've really enjoyed playing at left-back since switching there last season.
"It's been a move that's worked out really well for me and has improved me as a player. I've had to adapt my game a bit and I'm still learning a lot, but so far I think I've done all right there."
Robson, who has linked well with summer signing Andy Welsh down the left in recent matches, added: "I know that I've got defensive responsibilities and can't bomb past him at every opportunity, but we're starting to link up well and the more we play together the better we'll get to know each other's game."
