Scunthorpe boss Alan Knill revealed defender Paul Reid was replaced in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Charlton due to a groin injury.
Reid was replaced by Niall Canavan as the Iron battled back from two goals down to salvage a point at The Valley.
Bobby Grant grabbed a brace to level the scores but Knill reserved special praise for rookie centre-back Canavan.
Knill said: "Sometimes he is so laid-back but we all know that there is a very good player there.
"He gets his chance now. He has great height and a great left foot, is strong, powerful and is the sort of player everyone is looking for.
"He is a player who has a really good chance."
