New Oldham Athletic recruit Nathan Clarke admitted he could not have scripted his debut better.
The Huddersfield defender last week joined the Latics on loan until January and made his first appearance for the club in Saturday's 2-0 home win over derby rivals Rochdale.
Clarke, 27, helped Paul Dickov's men to a clean sheet and also scored a goal on the stroke of half-time to put his new club in total control.
He said: "It was a dream debut and it was great to be thrust back in and to play again.
"Luckily it was a big derby and we came away with three points.
"I don't often pop up with a goal so that was nice. And the goal, our second, was important as it made it a little more comfortable for ourselves."
