Leyton Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones needs a shoulder operation which will sideline him for six months.
The 22-year-old has yet to make an appearance this season due to a tear in his right shoulder and will be out until the new year after going under the knife.
"It's disappointing to lose Jamie for an extended period of time," said O's manager Russell Slade.
"We've tried to get his shoulder right before resorting to surgery and I feel for the boy because he has worked hard at strengthening it, but it's now clear an operation is needed.
"Hopefully it will solve the problem once and for all and Jamie can return stronger in the new year."
Lee Butcher has started Orient's first three games of the season in Jones' absence.
