Hartlepool midfielder Gary Liddle will miss Tuesday's game against Huddersfield after fracturing his cheekbone in Saturday.
Liddle was injured in an aerial challenge with Saddlers skipper Andy Butler just nine seconds into the game against Walsall at Victoria Park.
Although he went on to complete the full 90 minutes, a post-match X-ray confirmed the fracture and Liddle now looks set for a spell on the sidelines.
"We need to get Gary to see a specialist this week," Pools' first-team coach Mick Wadsworth told the club's official website.
"Obviously the initial results have given us bad news but we need him to be seen by somebody who knows about these types of injuries.
"I'll be leaving Gary in the capable hands of our medical staff and we should know more about the extent of the injury later in the week."
