Wadsworth: Nish was top target

Hartlepool boss Mick Wadsworth says new striker Colin Nish was always his number one transfer target.

The 30-year-old moved to Victoria Park after his contract at Scottish side Hibernian expired at the end of last season and is set to make his debut for the club in the friendly against Barnsley on Tuesday night. "Colin Nish has settled in very well," Wadsworth told the Northern Echo. "I knew him because I've played against him many times. We seemed to play Hibs quite a lot at times when I was at Gretna and I always liked him. "I just thought he was a good footballer, very mobile for a big guy and good in the air. "He honestly was probably my number one target. Whether he scores 10 or 20 goals, I'm not that bothered, as long as we continue what we did last year to get goals from various quarters. "I think he is certainly going to help, there is no doubt about that because he has got goals over his career."
