New signing Zander Diamond is raring to go after arriving at Oldham Athletic on a one-year deal.
The 26-year-old defender was out of contract at Aberdeen after nine years at the club, prompting the Latics to swoop for his services.
After spending his entire career to date in Scotland, Diamond is relishing the prospect of proving himself south of the border.
He said: "I can't wait to get started. I spent nine years in the Scottish Premier League at Aberdeen and you can become stale.
"This is a fresh challenge and, when you look at the teams in League One, it is a competitive division.
"The chance to play in the cup competitions was also a major factor and a bonus and I can't wait until the first day of the season."
