Andy Butler is eager for action as Walsall prepare for a pre-season friendly against Scottish First Division side Morton.
The Saddlers are three days into their five-day training camp north of the border in which they trained on Monday afternoon and underwent a double session on Tuesday before training again on Wednesday morning before the match.
Manager Dean Smith plans to give the majority of players 45 minutes and also take a look at a couple of trialists at Cappielow.
And centre-back Butler told the club's official website: "I'm looking forward to playing a game. We've been working really hard since the start of pre-season and this Scottish training camp has been really useful.
"It should be a decent game against decent opposition. The first friendly is always a good indicator in terms of how far you've come and how far you've got to go.
"The lads all look in good shape and we've been getting on really well as a group, so we're all up for it."
