Notts County defender Stephen Hunt could miss the start of the new season after undergoing an ankle operation.

Hunt, 26, is facing up to four months on the sidelines. "Hunty had a lingering ankle problem at the end of the season, so he had an operation on it," assistant manager Carl Muggleton told the Nottingham Evening Post. "It was a bigger operation than was expected, but he's starting to recover now. "He will be out for longer than we anticipated but we're keeping our fingers crossed he gets back fit as quickly as possible." Midfielder Neal Bishop should be fit for the start of pre-season training after a hernia op.
