Grecians swoop for defender

Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale has completed the signing of defender Danny Coles from Bristol Rovers.

The 29-year-old made 41 appearances for the Pirates last season, including three against his new side, and joins City on a free transfer after having his contract with Rovers terminated by mutual consent. "Every time Rovers played against Exeter it was a struggle because of the way they passed the ball and retained possession," he told the Grecians' official website. "It's something that a lot of teams in this division find hard to deal with. Where Exeter finished in the table last season is a credit to them and the way they play football is the way it should be played. "Every year the club is taking a step forward and I am looking forward to being a part of that."
