MK Dons skipper Dean Lewington wants his side to use their play-off heartache to inspire them to promotion next season.
The Dons missed out on a trip to Old Trafford for this weekend's final after a 4-3 aggregate semi-final defeat by Peterborough.
But Lewington told the club's official website: "We are quite a young team with a young manager and hopefully we can use this as fuel for next year.
"It looks good for the future that we have a good, young squad and hopefully we can keep that going.
"We need to go away to recharge the batteries and come back next year to go one better.
"When we look back on it in the weeks and months to come, we will see our form over the last six months was pretty good and we can improve on that next year."
