Pools secure deal for Solano

Nolberto Solano has turned down a new contract offer from Hull City to sign for Hartlepool United.

The 36-year-old former Peru international made a total of 13 appearances for Hull this season after arriving at the KC Stadium on a free transfer from Leicester last summer. The former Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham midfielder teams back up with Pools manager Mick Wadsworth, who worked with Solano during his time as assistant boss to Sir Bobby Robson at St James' Park. Newcastle paid Argentinian club Boca Juniors £2.5million to bring Solano to Europe in 1998 and after selling him to Villa for £1.5million in 2004, the Magpies paid the same amount to buy him back 18 months later.
