Southend boss Paul Sturrock has confirmed the release of five first-team players - and says the clear-out isn't over yet.

Goalkeeper Rhys Evans, left-back Johnny Herd, midfielders Adam Bouzid and Miguel Comminges and winger Louis Soares have all been told to find new clubs, while others are expected to follow in the coming weeks. Sturrock told the club's official website: "I have told those five that they won't be offered new deals and there are others I've yet to meet with. "It's never nice having to release a player but it's part and parcel of the game. "They have all been model professionals and fantastic to work with and I really hope they can find new clubs." Skipper Craig Easton, player-coach Graham Coughlan, goalkeeper Glenn Morris, defender Luke Prosser, striker Blair Sturrock and youngsters Kyle Asante and Merrick James-Lewis are all set for talks but Sturrock warned: "They might not all be staying."
