Brighton's Inigo Calderon admits he made the right decision in turning down a switch to Southampton last summer.
The Spanish full-back was close to joining Saints in June but opted instead to sign a new contract at the Withdean and has been rewarded with the League One title.
Southampton travel to the champions on Saturday still looking to secure automatic promotion behind their south-coast rivals.
The clash has extra spice with Brighton looking to break the 100-point barrier and with the home fans eager to remind Saints boss Nigel Adkins of his comments earlier in the season when he said the Seagulls could challenge his side for the title "if they keep up with us".
Calderon said: "Now it is easy to say it was the right decision but I do not think so much about the past.
"Now we have four games without anything to get - but we have to win, they are like finals."
