Skysports.com understands Marc-Bridge Wilkinson has left Carlisle by mutual consent.
The midfielder has been on the books at Brunton Park since 2007, but has slipped down the pecking order of late.
He has spent the last couple of months on loan at Blue Square Premier side Darlington and feels he would better served securing a permanent switch away from Carlisle.
The 31-year-old has discussed this matter with the club and both sides have agreed to part ways.
Bridge-Wilkinson's contract with the Cumbrians was due to expire in the summer anyway, so he slips into the free agent market slighter earlier than initially intended.
The former Derby man will now be hoping to find employment within the Football League ranks, having previously turned out for Port Vale, Stockport and Bradford.
