Shrewsbury Town's loan star Mark Wright is keen to extend his stay at the League Two high-flyers.
The winger has been playing some of the best football of his career, scoring 10 goals in 19 appearances since joining Shrewsbury from Bristol Rovers in the summer.
The current deal is set to expire in January and the 28-year-old has revealed he is enjoying his football again after a stale period with the Pirates.
"I'd like to extend my stay here because I don't think that I really have a future back at Bristol," Wright told
skysports.com.
"They wanted me to go out on loan for the whole season, so hopefully they will be just as keen to extend the deal.
"It all depends on whether Shrewsbury want to keep me on board really, but I'd love to stay here.
"I've settled in the area well and it helped being from Wolverhampton because I'm closer to home now and my girlfriend is originally from Telford too, so moving back up north was always going to be a good thing for me.
"I didn't really settle in Bristol very well and the return north, with my family around me again is probably a big factor in my form too."
Wright's situation back at parent club Bristol Rovers may have changed after the departure of manager Paul Trollope on Wednesday, but he insists that he will see how things stand in January before making a decision on his future.
He added: "I've not heard anything from either club yet about extending it, but when I signed they said that they would address it closer to the time and I've still got another month here so we will have to wait and see."
