Tranmere boss Les Parry believes goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi will return to Liverpool a better player after his loan stint.
The 20-year-old Hungarian's loan ended in disappointing fashion on Tuesday as his own-goal allowed Hartlepool to inflict a 1-0 home defeat on Rovers.
But Parry said: "Peter is the world's nicest lad and all we can do is thank Liverpool for giving us the opportunity to have him in our team.
"We cannot afford and cannot attract players of Peter's calibre on permanent deals, so for Liverpool to give us the opportunity to bring him here has been fantastic.
"I just hope we are sending back a slightly better, more rounded player, than we took in."
