Skysports.com understands Oxford have agreed a deal to sign Bury defender Ben Futcher on loan.
Oxford boss Chris Wilder has been keen to bolster his defensive options and he has moved to bring in giant centre-half Futcher.
The 29-year-old has found himself down the pecking order at Gigg Lane and he has been keen on a move away in search of regular first-team football.
Futcher is set to join League Two rivals Oxford on loan until 1st January with Shakers boss Alan Knill happy to let him move on.
The 6ft 7in defender is Oxford's second loan signing this week following the arrival of Paul Wotton from Southampton.
