Duo set for reserve outing

Walsall will assess Darren Byfield and Richard Taundry and the pair could play in the club's reserve clash against Lincoln.

Skipper Byfield had a fighting chance of taking part in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Dagenham but narrowly failed to shrug off the knee injury which has sidelined him for the past month. The striker had a cortisone injection last Wednesday before resting for 48 hours but failed to prove his match fitness in time for the weekend. Midfielder Taundry, meanwhile, could also feature against the Imps on Tuesday afternoon having completed his rehabilitation from the knee injury he sustained in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat to Chesterfield at the end of August. Should the pair play a part at Sincil Bank and come through okay then they could well be involved in Saturday's crucial League One encounter at home to fellow strugglers Tranmere.
