Peterborough striker Aaron Mclean has put his fine start to the season down to added competition for places.

Mclean has already scored six goals in eight appearances this season as Gary Johnson's side have powered to the top of League One but insists that he doesn't feel secure in the side.

He said: "I am under pressure every time I set foot on to the pitch because we have a superb squad. The players waiting to come in will do a really good job and I believe I am thriving under that pressure.

"Dave Hibbert has been unbelievably good in training and I was thrilled for him to score his first goal at the weekend. I know full well that I have to perform in every single game that I play because if I don't I know that someone will come in and take my place in the side.

"The lads are all buzzing now as we are top of the league, but it's important we kick on now."
