Rangers boss offers advice to injury-prone midfielder

QPR boss Neil Warnock has urged Martin Rowlands to take a different approach when he makes his return to action this week. Republic of Ireland international Rowlands has been sidelined for 10 months after smashing his cruciate ligament whilst playing for his country last October. The midfielder will make his comeback with a 30-minute run-out against West Ham in a closed doors friendly on Tuesday. Manager Warnock is well aware that the 31-year-old's playing days could be limited, and has advised him to avoid the over-enthusiastic challenges which have cost him before. "Part of Rowly's game is whole-hearted tackling - which has also cost him in the past," Warnock told the Ealing Gazette. "And I think one of the ways we can improve him is to get him to release the ball earlier when he's looking for a pass."
