Coppell captures defensive pair

Bristol City have completed the double signing of defensive duo Nicky Hunt and Damion Stewart. As revealed by skysports.com earlier this week Robins boss Steve Coppell had lined up a double deal for Bolton defender Hunt and QPR stopper Stewart. Right-back Hunt, 26, has signed a two-year deal and arrives on a free transfer after ending his 10-year association with Bolton. Hunt made 161 appearances for the Trotters, but with his last outing coming in March 2008 against Arsenal at the Reebok Stadium.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle told the club's official website: "Nicky is a terrific lad but obviously his opportunities have been limited here. We wish him well at Bristol City." City paid Championship rivals QPR an undisclosed fee for Jamaica international Stewart, 29, and the centre-back has signed a three-year contract. Stewart joined Rangers from Bradford in 2006 and made more than 150 appearances for the London club. The pair take the number of new signings at Ashton Gate to four following the arrival of Kalifa Cisse and Albert Adomah from Reading and Barnet respectively.
