Tranmere boss Les Parry looks set to offer a contract to Nick Wood after the defender impressed during a recent trial spell at Prenton Park.

The youngster, who was released by Sheffield Wednesday last season, impressed during the recent friendlies against Nottingham Forest and Mansfield and Parry is keen to make him a permanent addition to his squad.

Parry will give Matt Hollyoak more time to impress, but the future of fellow trialist Bakary Bojang is unclear.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "We are hoping to get something done with Nick. We would like to get him signed in the coming week."
