Rovers star wants to extend stay

Tranmere Rovers legend Ian Thomas-Moore is hoping to sign a new contract with the club. The 33-year-old started his career with the Merseyside club before moves to Nottingham Forest, Stockport, Burnley, Hartlepool and Leeds. He returned to Tranmere in 2008 and has scored 29 goals, including 15 last season. With a year left on his current deal, Thomas-Moore has told skysports.com that he is confident he can play on for another two or three years and ideally they will be at Prenton Park. "I've spoken to the manager about my own future and I am happy to extend my contract and help the club push on," he told skysports.com. "I'm a fit lad and I can play on for another two or three seasons easily and my aim for this season is to score more goals than I did last season and push the team towards the top half of the table. "Everyone wants to do well here, the players want to be challenging for promotion not fighting against relegation and I know the manager wants to be at the top end of the table too but he needs the financial backing to bring in new players that are going to give everybody a lift." Thomas-Moore is confident Rovers can push on for a successul campaign next season, and added: "The players want exactly the same thing that the fans want and that is a successful team, they turn up and pay their hard earned cash and they want to see results. "I want to be part of a successful team here but to be successful and to challenge for promotion we need to bring in new faces."
