Huddersfield defender Tom Clarke has committed his future to the club after signing a contract until the summer of 2012.
The 22-year-old made 25 first-team appearances last season but suffered a serious injury in Town's League One play-off semi-final defeat to Millwall.
Clarke suffered anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament damage and will be sidelined until at least Christmas.
But he has put pen to paper and the youngster's future at the Galpharm looks bright despite his injury.
Manager Lee Clark told the club's official website: "Tom is a fantastic professional who covers numerous positions and whenever he comes in he plays to his best.
"Unfortunately for him he was enjoying his best spells in the side on the two occasions he has got injured like this.
"However, this contract extension is thoroughly deserved - it was a no-brainer for us - and we all hope he kicks on again once he has overcome this problem."
