Peterborough United boss Gary Johnson will assess trialists Franck Queudrue and Liam Chilvers in Monday's friendly with Aston Villa.
Johnson is on the lookout for experienced campaigners as Posh look to bounce back from relegation by returning to the Championship at the first time of asking.
The club's new manager has already watched Queudrue in action in Saturday's 3-1 win over Rushden & Diamonds and is now looking to assess Chilvers.
Chilvers is out of contract at Preston and Johnson will make a decision on the future of the duo in the coming week as he looks to mould his squad.
"We believe that we may need a bit of experience at the back and there is no doubt that these two players offer that," explained Johnson.
"They will both play against Aston Villa on Monday night and be involved at Gillingham on Tuesday night.
"I will then have to make a decision on where we go from there, but they have done well and we will see what happens. You can see they have a bit of quality."
