Dutch defender has options, says Bees boss

Brentford manager Andy Scott is still hopeful of landing defender Pim Balkestein this summer. The 23-year-old Dutchman had a spell on loan with the Bees last season, and made 14 League One starts for the club. Balkestein has now been released by Championship outfit Ipswich, and is considering his options before making a decision on his next move. Scott is hopeful of seeing him at Griffin Park next term, and revealed they should know the decision in the next few weeks. He told the Hounslow Chronicle: "We are still looking at Pim, who has a few options both here and abroad, and we should get an answer in the next few weeks." Balkestein, who can also play at left-back, moved to Ipswich in 2008 after beginning his career with SC Heerenveen.
